How to download large files?
Most of the resources on web sites take little disk space and little time to
download. Normally, users experience little difficulties in downloading such
resources as the download time is so little that Internet connection is unlikely
to break during resource download. Even if it breaks, such a resource can be
quickly downloaded later from the start as it is small.
However, some resources are very large and take much time to download. Their
downloading may be a big problem even for fast Internet connections. The
standard downloader built-in in Internet Explorer is not
perfect. That's why there are many download manager programs available on the
market. They facilitate downloading of large-sized resources from the Internet.
Though Ad Annihilator was not designed to be a download manager, it still can
handle large file download rather gracefully. There are three tasks that Ad
Annihilator undertakes to make file downloading easy:
-
Cache control tab of
Ad Annihilator Options window has
"Store partially retrieved documents and resources" option that when checked,
makes Ad Annihilator to store even partially retrieved files in the
cache and be able to resume
broken downloads later from the point it was broken at. You should have this
option on in order to be able to resume file downloading;
-
Control of download process can be made in
Progress tab. It allows you to see the download
speed, how much of the file is downloaded so far and abort downloading;
-
Saving of the downloaded file (even partially retrieved) to
the disk outside of Ad Annihilator
cache can be done from
Resources tab.
Right-click the resource in the list and choose "Save resource to
disk".
